Here are some photographs of mine from previous summers. Something to look at while I wrap my mind around this staycation.

Summertime
Lucky me! I get to go through my third trimester during the hot, humid, stink that is summer in NYC. With that in mind, I'll need to plan some summer get aways that only require a bathing suit and some sunscreen. Now, if you've never been pregnant then you've never thought about how huge your chest is going to get in such a short amount of time. It's actually pretty disturbing. I recently tried on (or to be more accurate, held up in front of me) my bikini tops and realized they weren't happening anytime this year. A quick google search for maternity swimwear had me freaking out. Tankinis?? Floral grandma looking one pieces?? Yeah, right!! And by the way, did you know "halterkini" is considered a word?
Since my bathing suit bottoms fit exactly the same I realized my best bet was to try and buy a few bikini tops that are 2 sizes larger that would match bottoms that I already have. The only place I ended up being able to find options was Victoria's Secret. Every year their Swim collection is super sexy and fresh so I was psyched to find something exactly at the moment that I was about to have a freak out about shitty maternity swimwear.
The Retro push-up triangle top in poesia aqua and the Push-up bandeau top in diva pink are two of my favorites.
It's hard to feel like Alessandra or Candice while your waistline dissappears but it's nice to know the VS Swim wear is still an option as it happens!

Mother
A few months back I was checking out the blog of one of my favorite designers, Araks . She had posted an image of a gorgeous heart charm necklace by APSARAS . I contacted the designer Aiko and ended up purchasing it without hesitation. Today is the first day I am wearing it and just realized it has a charm on it that says Mother.

Who wears short shorts?
Apparently not pregnant women! I've been looking high and low for a decent looking pair of shorts that aren't down to my knees. Seems like pregnant women are really into Bermuda shorts. The one pair of cool shorts that I did manage to find were through Gap Maternity but of course they were sold out of my size. I've found a pair through Destination Maternity that I can deal with for the next few months if I roll up the bottoms an inch or two.
I'm loving these basic BDG 5-Pocket Shorts from Urban Outfitters. They should work on getting something like this available as maternity wear.
That being said, I haven't spent too much time contemplating the things that I can't wear for the next few months(ok, I'm lying.. I have!). Count these Lucca Couture Sailor Shorts as among those things.

21 Weeks
The baby bump has officially made it's appearance within the past week. I've had to sort through my closet and pretty much set aside 75% of it until after the baby makes her debut. This has forced me to rethink all of my usual go to outfits. Adios high waisted skirts and form fitting vintage summer dresses. Hola loose tops and maternity pants. I've done pretty well so far in avoiding the maternity stuff. What I have gotten so far are a few things from Top Shop maternity section which are totally things I would wear anyway. I'm keeping my eyes out for things that I could wear now and afterwards. I don't want to spend too much on pieces that i'm only going to be wearing for a few months. On the other hand, I definitely don't want to be stuck wearing a uniform of leggings and loose tops. A girl needs to feel good about herself, especially while she's dealing with a ton of body changes!
